This Sphæra Slim PVC base for fender profile from Tessilmare is the flexible underlay for the Sphæra 50 system's stainless steel protective profile. The white base is made of PVC and supplied on a roll, allowing it to be cut to the length of the boat's hull side and form a continuous base for the overlying profile.
The Slim version is without a mounting lip and is intended for installation on a flat surface. The base is 54.0 mm wide and 4.7 mm high, while the internal width for accommodating the steel profile is 49.2 mm. The minimum bending radius is 100 mm, and the weight is 210 g/m. The color is white with reference RAL 9010.
During installation, the base is positioned along the side of the boat and can be held temporarily in place with vertical strips of masking tape. It is recommended to temper the base profile in a warm environment for 8–12 hours before work. The compatible stainless steel profile is placed over the base, after which both parts are fastened with the same screw.
For fastening, A4 screws with an oval head, TGS design, Phillips no. 10, head diameter 9.5 mm and shaft diameter 4.8 mm according to DIN 7983, UNI 6956 or ISO 7051 are recommended. The recommended drill diameter is 4–4.2 mm. Silicone in the drill holes can facilitate screwing and contribute to sealing. A2 screws should not be used.
The base is intended for the Sphæra 50 profile with item no. 44.060.50. The system can be finished with the Slim end cap 44.064.50, while joints between steel profiles can be covered with the joint piece 44.063.50. The PVC surface should be cleaned with a correctly diluted liquid degreaser, as unsuitable or overly concentrated PVC cleaners can damage the material.
