Why are anodes important?
Anodes, also known as sacrificial anodes, "sacrifice" themselves by corroding in place of the more valuable metal parts of your engine. They protect the engine from galvanic corrosion, which occurs when dissimilar metals come into contact with each other in an electrolytic environment (such as salt water).
