Mercury Marine trim tab with sacrificial anode 17264T2 is an original OEM spare part for the gearcase on selected Mercury, Mariner, and Force outboard motors. It is mounted above the propeller at the gearcase propeller shaft area and functions both as a trim tab and as a sacrificial anode for corrosion protection.
The sacrificial anode protects the gearcase and other metal parts below the waterline by gradually degrading itself through galvanic corrosion. The part should therefore be checked regularly and replaced when it is significantly degraded, corroded, or damaged.
The rear-positioned trim tab is designed to provide clearance for propellers with a high-rake design. As the gearcase trim tab, it also contributes to correcting the steering torque that can occur due to propeller rotation.
The part is used on, among others, selected Mercury and Mariner engines from 30 to 60 hp, Mercury 40 Jet and 45 Jet, as well as specific Force 70 and 75 models. Compatibility depends on the engine's serial number and the installed gearcase, so the hp rating alone is not sufficient to determine correct fitment.
