The image is from 20-60 times larger than what the naked eye sees. 7x is the recommended magnification in marine binoculars. The second number 80 indicates how large the diameter of the lens is. The higher the number, the better the light penetration. This is an advantage in poor light. For marine use, a 50 mm lens is recommended.
BK-7 Prism
