This Ultraflex GoTech complete hydraulic steering kit is designed for a single outboard engine up to 115 hp and one steering station. The kit combines a semi-recessed UP18 helm pump with a front-mounted, balanced UC81-OBF cylinder and provides 4.5 turns lock-to-lock. The maximum operating speed is 45 mph.
The kit includes a UP18 helm pump, UC81-OBF cylinder, two 6 m long 1/4" high-pressure hoses, reusable end fittings, and 2 liters of OL 150 hydraulic oil. The hoses can be shortened to fit the specific installation. Swivel fittings are pre-mounted at one end, while the loose reusable fittings are installed after the hose length is adjusted.
The UP18 pump has a displacement of 18 cm³ per revolution, five pistons, and an integrated non-return valve and pressure relief valve set to 55 bar. The non-return valve prevents propeller torque from feeding back to the steering wheel. The pump features a corrosion-resistant composite housing, a tapered 3/4" stainless steel steering shaft, and is supplied with two 1/4" NPT fittings. Steering wheels with a diameter of up to 508 mm can be used; a steering wheel is not included.
The front-mounted UC81-OBF cylinder is balanced, meaning the number of turns is the same in both steering directions. The cylinder has a volume of 81 cm³, a stroke of 186 mm, and a theoretical maximum thrust of 222 kg at 55 bar. The internal cylinder diameter is 27.4 mm, and the maximum working pressure is 55 bar. The cylinder features 3/8" high-pressure connections, DN5 bleed fittings, and replaceable cylinder ends. The connection arm can be configured for starboard or port mounting depending on the engine and installation space.
The UC81-OBF application table covers selected outboard engines from Mercury, Mariner, Evinrude, Yamaha, Honda, Suzuki, Tohatsu, Nissan, Selva, and Johnson, as well as selected engines from PureCraft, Torqeedo, and Neander. The specific engine, model year, and mechanical fit must always be checked in the current application guide. The system limit of 115 hp and 45 mph must not be exceeded, even if a mechanical application table shows individual engines with higher rated power. The system is not recommended for racing boats or boats with a particularly small deadrise.
For Suzuki models from 1998-2008 where an adapter is required, KIT SU 41954W (item no. 45.419.54) must be used. An autopilot can be connected using the K18 kit, manufacturer no. 43414X and item no. 45.273.10. This connection kit contains 14 fittings, 10 m of TU1/4 reinforced hose, and 5 m of TU95 hose.
The system operates within a temperature range of −18 °C to +77 °C and must be carefully filled and bled after installation or any intervention in the hydraulic circuit. The supplied OL 150 oil has a viscosity grade of ISO VG 15 and a pour point below −30 °C. ATF Dexron II, brake fluid, engine oil, and other non-approved fluids must not be used. The entire steering system should be professionally inspected at least once a year, while hoses, fittings, seals, fasteners, and any leaks should be checked every six months.
The steering kit complies with EU 95/25 and ISO 10592. The system design also follows UNI EN ISO 10592 and ABYC P21. The complete kit has manufacturer number 42634G and model designation GoTech-OBF/M-60. The UP18 pump has manufacturer number 43182C, the UC81-OBF cylinder 42654N, and the hose kit KIT OB-GT/M-60 manufacturer number 42669C.
