Ultraflex hydraulic steering system for inboard engines – 12 m is a complete hydraulic base kit for boats with two helm stations. The system is rated for a maximum rudder torque of 111 kgm and consists of two UP39F helm pumps, a balanced UC215-I hydraulic cylinder, and a KIT OB-2S fitting kit for the connection between the helm stations.
The two UP39F pumps are front-mounted in the dashboard and each delivers 39 cm³ per steering wheel revolution. The pumps feature seven pistons, a ball-bearing piston race, a built-in check valve, and an integrated relief valve set to 70 bar. The 3/4″ tapered steering shaft is made of stainless steel, and each pump can be used with steering wheels up to 710 mm in diameter. The combination of the UP39F and the UC215-I provides approximately 5.5 turns lock-to-lock.
The UC215-I is a balanced, double-acting hydraulic cylinder with the same number of wheel turns in both steering directions. The cylinder has a volume of 215 cm³, a stroke of 228 mm, an internal cylinder diameter of 40 mm, and an output force of 673 kg. The drawing dimensions are A: 941 mm, B: 713 mm, C: 228 mm, D: 40 mm, and E: 105 mm, and can be used when planning the installation.
The KIT OB-2S connects the reservoirs of the two helm pumps via a compensation line. The kit includes 8 m of 3/8″ TU95 nylon tubing, two straight 1/8″ NPT fittings, two straight 1/4″ NPT fittings, two T-fittings, and a non-vented plug. The compensation hose must not be used as a pressure hose, and the pressure in the compensation line must not exceed 3 bar.
The system operates within a documented temperature range of −18 °C to +77 °C and is designed according to UNI EN ISO 10592 and ABYC P21. The components are labeled in accordance with Directive 2013/53/EU. The system is not intended for racing boats, and the engine power must not exceed the boat manufacturer's approved power limit.
The kit includes 2 × UP39F helm pump, item no. 45.280.03, 1 × UC215-I cylinder, item no. 45.284.03, and 1 × KIT OB-2S, item no. 45.290.15. Hydraulic oil and installation-specific pressure hoses must be ordered separately. Hydraulic oil ISO VG22 is available as item no. 45.027.01, while compatible hose kits for the cylinder can be found in the 45.290.35–45.290.93 series. Pressure pipes and hoses must be selected according to the specific installation diagram and the fittings used.
