This WAGO 221 inline splicing connector, model 221-2411, connects two copper conductors directly in a straight line. The package contains 60 connectors. It is designed for solid, stranded, and fine-stranded conductors and is operated without tools using a separate lever at each conductor entry.
Installation is performed by lifting the lever, stripping the conductor 11 mm, and inserting it all the way to the connector's stop. The lever is then pressed down, securing the conductor with CAGE CLAMP® connection technology. The transparent housing and cover allow for visual inspection of the conductor's position, while the orange levers are clear and easy to operate.
The connector has an overall conductor range of 0.2–4 mm². Solid copper conductors can be 0.2–4 mm², stranded copper conductors 0.2–2.5 mm², and fine-stranded copper conductors 0.2–4 mm². Nominal electrical data according to EN 60664 is 450 V, 32 A, and 4 kV rated impulse voltage at overvoltage category II and pollution degree 2. UL data for Use Group C is 600 V and 20 A.
The connector itself measures 35.5 mm in length, 8.1 mm in width, and 8.9 mm in height. The housing is made of transparent polycarbonate with a UL 94 V-2 flammability rating, and each connector weighs 2.3 g. The maximum ambient temperature is 85 °C with T85 marking. The continuous service temperature range is separately specified as -60 to +105 °C.
The 221-2411 is approved for marine applications by ABS, Lloyd’s Register, and PRS according to EN 60998. The connector also holds CCA/DEKRA approval, cULus Listed approval according to UL 486C, and UL approval according to UL 467. The product is RoHS compliant without exemptions.
Installation and accessories
Compatible gel boxes for moisture protection include WAGO 207-1372, 207-1373, and 207-1375. Compatible mounting carriers are available in the 221-250x, 221-251x, 221-252x, and 221-253x series with one to five positions, depending on the carrier model. The connector itself is not documented as waterproof.
Installation must only be performed by qualified persons and without voltage or load. Use the correct conductor type and cross-section, observe the stripping length, and always insert the conductor fully to the stop. Damaged or dirty connectors must not be used.
