This WAGO 221 lever-operated splicing connector is a 3-conductor terminal block for the safe and tool-free connection of copper conductors. The 221-413 variant is designed for solid, stranded, and fine-stranded conductors with a total rated conductor range of 0.14–4 mm². The pack contains 50 splicing connectors.
The connection is made by lifting the orange operating lever, inserting the 11 mm stripped conductor up to the stop, and pushing the lever back down until it is flush with the housing. CAGE CLAMP® technology secures the conductor without the need for tools, while the transparent housing allows for visual inspection of the conductor position. The splicing connector must not be operated while live or under load.
All three connection points are internally connected to a single common electrical potential. The nominal IEC/EN data is 450 V and 32 A with a rated surge voltage of 4 kV. The separate UL data for Use Group C is 600 V and 20 A.
The housing is made of transparent polycarbonate with orange operating levers and has a fire rating of UL 94 V-2. Each splicing connector measures 18.8 mm in width, 8.4 mm in height, and 18.8 mm in depth, and weighs 2.5 g. The maximum ambient temperature is 85 °C with a T85 temperature rating, while the documented maximum continuous service temperature is 105 °C.
The splicing connector complies with standards including EN 60998, EN 60669, UL 486C, and UL 467. Marine approvals include ABS, DNV GL, and Lloyd’s Register. The product is also RoHS-compliant without exemptions.
The splicing connector is compatible with mounting carriers for the 221 series 4 mm² models. The 221-500 mounting carrier, item no. 14.286.50, can be used for this variant and mounted on a DIN 35 rail or via screws on a flat surface. Conductors can be connected and released both before and after placement in the carrier.
