This lever-operated connector from the WAGO 221 Series is a compact 2-conductor terminal block for the quick and tool-free connection of copper conductors. Model 221-612 handles solid, stranded, and fine-stranded conductors with a cross-section of 0.5–6 mm². The package contains 50 units.
The CAGE CLAMP® technology secures the conductor with a spring clamp. The connection is established by lifting the orange lever, inserting the stripped conductor until it hits the mechanical stop, and closing the lever flush with the housing. The transparent polycarbonate housing allows for visual inspection of the conductor position.
The connector has two connection points and one electrical potential. The rated IEC/EN data is 450 V and 41 A with a rated surge voltage of 4 kV. The UL rated data for Use Group C is 600 V and 30 A and must be kept separate from the IEC/EN values.
Each conductor must be stripped by 12–14 mm before installation. The wires are inserted from the side, and the connector can be used for applications such as junction boxes, low-voltage lighting, ceiling roses, pendant lights, and general electrical installations. The loose connector has no specified IP rating and should therefore not be considered waterproof.
The compatible mounting carrier WAGO 221-510 can be used for horizontal or vertical positioning. The carrier can be snapped onto a DIN 35 rail or screwed onto a flat surface and is available as related item no. 14.286.51. For optional moisture protection, Gelbox models 207-1431, 207-1432, and 207-1433 are available.
The connector is classified according to standards including EN/IEC 60998, EN 60664, UL 486C, and UL 467. Marine approvals include ABS, DNV GL, and Lloyd’s Register. The maximum ambient temperature is 85 °C, the temperature rating is T85, and the continuous operating temperature is 105 °C. Installation must be performed while de-energized by an electrician or other qualified person in accordance with applicable regulations and safety instructions.
