This blackout curtain with mosquito net from Waterline Design is model 1305 in the 1300 series. The curtain measures 350 × 350 mm and is intended for the interior covering of boat hatches with an opening or cutout dimension of up to 300 × 300 mm.
The ventilated three-layer construction consists of two blackout layers and a fine-mesh mosquito net. The construction provides 100% blackout while allowing the hatch to remain open for airflow, keeping out mosquitoes, midges, sandflies, wasps, and other insects.
The curtain features polyester mesh and PVC, as well as a flexible, foldable chrome-plated steel frame. The white interior blends discreetly with the boat's ceiling, while the silver exterior reflects light and heat. When installed, the curtain adds less than 3 mm in thickness.
The pop-up construction is mounted from the inside of the boat using a suction cup and requires no screws or permanent installation. The suction cup is pressed against the hatch, and then the cord is tightened until the curtain fits snugly against the ceiling. The contact surface and the suction cup should be clean, and the cord must not be overtightened. Mounting can be done in approximately five seconds.
The model can be used on round, square, and rectangular standard hatches on both sailboats and motorboats, provided the opening is within the maximum dimensions. For smaller or round hatches, the overlap will be greater. The curtain can be used as insect protection and ventilation when the hatch is open, or as blackout when the hatch is closed.
After use, the curtain can be folded down to approximately one-third of its full size and stored in the included bag. The scope of delivery also includes a suction cup. For model 1305, Waterline Design 6305 is available as additional moisture and heat insulation. For installation on fiberglass where the suction cup cannot adhere directly, the separate adhesive plate Waterline Design 1542 can be used.
