This Waterline Design blackout curtain with mosquito net for the companionway is a removable protection for a boat's companionway or cabin entrance. The curtain measures 900 × 1800 mm and combines blackout, insect protection, and limited ventilation in one solution for sailboats and motorboats.
The construction consists of a dense mosquito net between blackout layers. The blackout layers provide 100% blackout, while the mesh section allows for limited airflow and helps keep mosquitoes, small flies, and wasps out. The curtain also reduces light and visibility through an open or transparent companionway.
The white/silver side can be turned outward in daylight to reflect solar heat. The curtain has a black edge or trim and is less than 3 mm thick, making it easy to handle, fold, and store when not in use.
The curtain is hung over the companionway and fastened without permanent installation or screw mounting. Ties and a weighted bottom edge help keep it in place. For passage, the bottom edge is lifted, after which the weight causes the curtain to fall back into place.
The universal design is intended for companionway openings up to approximately 850 × 1750 mm. The larger dimensions of the curtain provide an overlap around the opening. A storage bag is included so that the folded protection can be stored on board in a space-saving manner.
