This Whale Gulper Toilet Pump Mk2 toilet waste pump is an electric, self-priming 24 V DC diaphragm pump for emptying and transferring toilet waste and blackwater. The pump can be used with holding tanks, vacuum toilet systems, as well as both macerated and non-macerated toilet waste. The design does not require a separate filter and is developed to handle a mixture of air and waste liquid.
The pump delivers 16.5 l/min at 1 m suction lift and 1 m discharge head, while the open flow is up to 18 l/min. The maximum suction lift is 3 m, the maximum discharge head is 3 m, and the total combined suction and discharge head must not exceed 3 m. The diaphragm design is dry-run capable and virtually non-clogging, which reduces the risk of downtime in the toilet waste system.
The pump housing is constructed of aluminium and glass-filled nylon. The diaphragm, valves, and other components consist of materials including Santoprene, nitrile, acetal, Delrin, EPDM, stainless steel, and brass. The inlet and outlet can be rotated at the pump head so that the flow direction can be adapted to the installation. Rubber feet contribute to vibration-dampened mounting.
The 24 V variant has a power consumption of 2 A during dry running and must be protected with a 4 A automotive fuse. An in-line fuse is pre-fitted, and the minimum cable cross-section is 1.5 mm². The pump is polarity-sensitive and must therefore be connected with the correct polarity. The specified continuous operating time is up to 40 minutes.
The inlet and outlet are designed for 38 mm (1½") hose. Use a smooth, thick-walled, and non-collapsible hose, and keep the hose routing as short and straight as possible. Two stainless hose clamps must be fitted at each pump connection. The pump can be mounted horizontally or vertically; for vertical mounting, the pump head must be placed below the motor housing. Mount it in a dry and ventilated area with access for service, on a bulkhead or a mounting plate with a thickness of at least 19 mm.
The pump can handle freshwater, saltwater, and typical marine toilet waste, but must not be used for flammable liquids, diesel, or aggressive chemicals. Only use cleaning agents intended for marine toilets, and avoid bleach and drain cleaner. For winterizing, the system must be emptied and dried completely. The diaphragm and valves can be serviced with the Whale kit AK1557 or the maintenance kit with item no. 50.113.99, while the clamping ring kit has manufacturer number AS1562.
