XINTEX CMD6-M marine carbon monoxide alarm is a microprocessor-controlled CO alarm for 12/24 V DC systems in boat cabins, sleeping areas, and other marine living spaces. It detects carbon monoxide from combustion sources such as gasoline engines, generators, and fuel- and gas-powered heating or cooking appliances.
The electrochemical sensor utilizes TWA (Time-Weighted Average) measurement, which continuously evaluates CO concentration, exposure time, and temperature. The alarm timing is calculated relative to COHb loading with a nominal alarm point of 10% COHb. The system alarms after 60–240 minutes at 70 ppm, 10–50 minutes at 150 ppm, and 4–15 minutes at 400 ppm. The alarm resets when the CO level drops below 40 ppm.
The audible alarm emits four beeps followed by approximately 4–5 seconds of silence and has a sound level of 85 dBA at 3 m. A green LED indicates normal operation, while a red LED signals alarm or end-of-life. The TEST/MUTE button is used for functional testing and temporary silencing. Multiple detectors can be interconnected, and a relay module for generator shutdown is included.
The alarm measures 89 × 89 × 31 mm and has a flame-retardant ABS housing. The nominal supply is 12/24 V DC with an allowable voltage range of 9–32 V DC. For power connection, red and black 18 AWG wires are used, where red is positive supply and black is ground or negative. A permanent lithium-metal backup battery is built-in and is not intended to be removed.
The unit is mounted on the mounting base and must be positioned vertically when wall-mounted. Suitable #6 pan-head screws should be used, and the cable hole for a wired installation must be no larger than 9.5 mm, unless a connector requires a larger hole. The alarm should be placed in the main cabin and in each separate sleeping area, but not within 1.5 m of cooking appliances, directly in the airflow from heating or air conditioning systems, or in places with blocked or stagnant air.
The expected service life is approximately 7 years, and the alarm must be replaced at end-of-life or no later than 84 months after retail sale. It should be functionally tested at least once a week and wiped clean with a damp cloth without solvents. The alarm only detects CO at the sensor's location and is not intended to detect smoke, fire, or other types of gases.
