The Xintex CMD6-M marine carbon monoxide alarm is a self-contained, battery-powered CO alarm for enclosed living and sleeping areas on board. The integrated power supply requires no connection to the boat's 12/24 V system, and the expected service life until end-of-life is approximately 7 years or 84 months.
The microprocessor-controlled alarm uses an electrochemical CO sensor and TWA (Time-Weighted Average) measurement. The system monitors carbon monoxide concentration, exposure time, and temperature to calculate the alarm timing based on COHb levels. The alarm threshold is 10% COHb. The alarm sequence is activated after 60-240 minutes at 70 ppm, 10-50 minutes at 150 ppm, and 4-15 minutes at 400 ppm. The alarm resets when the concentration drops below 40 ppm.
During a CO alarm, the red LED flashes approximately every 5 seconds, while the horn emits four beeps followed by a pause of approximately five seconds. The sound level is 85 dBA at 3 m. During normal operation, the green LED flashes once every 180 seconds. Critical components are checked automatically every 180 seconds, and faults or end of sensor life are signaled both visually and audibly. The Test/Mute button is used for functional testing and temporary silencing.
The alarm measures 89 × 89 × 31 mm and can be mounted on a wall or ceiling using the mounting base. For wall mounting, the base must be positioned vertically. The alarm is placed over the base tabs, pressed against the mounting surface, and rotated approximately 25° clockwise. Positioning at about eye level facilitates checks and operation.
The unit should be mounted in the main cabin and in each separate sleeping area. It must not be placed closer than 0.3 m from corners, doors, or areas with stagnant air, or closer than 1.5 m from cooking equipment. Avoid placement where water can enter, near direct airflow from heating and ventilation systems, or where curtains or other objects might block the sensor. The alarm only detects CO in the area around its own sensor and is not intended as a smoke, fire, or alarm for other gas types.
The circuit board is protected against moisture and corrosion for marine use. The alarm must be functionally tested at least once a week and cleaned with a damp cloth without solvents. The battery cannot be replaced or removed by the user, and the unit contains no parts that can be serviced on board. The product is ETL-tested according to UL 2034 Marine, 4th Edition, and comes with a one-year limited warranty.
