This Xintex FS-T01-S gasoline fume sensor is a spare sensor for compatible marine G-2B-R and P-2BS gas detector systems. The sensor detects gasoline and propane fumes and is supplied as a separate sensor without the detector panel and the separate sensor cable.
The sensor has a red plastic housing and connects to the compatible sensor cable via a quick-disconnect plug. The separate 20-foot (approx. 6 m) FS-X01 sensor cable is available as item no. 29.787.11. The cable must not be cut or shortened and must be routed so that the plug and cable are not pinched or strained.
For installation, the sensor is secured with appropriate #8 mounting screws, and a rubber gasket is placed between the sensor and the mounting surface. The rubber gasket and mounting screws are not documented as part of the scope of delivery. The sensor's documented operating temperature is −40 °C to +85 °C, and it is protected against reverse polarity.
For gasoline detection, the sensor should be placed in the bilge just above the normal water and fluid line. It should not be mounted lower than the height of the starter relay or starter solenoid and must be kept away from exhaust manifolds and other high heat sources. For propane detection, the sensor should be placed near the floor by the propane-powered appliance, as propane is heavier than air. Locations at risk of physical damage or contact with aggressive cleaning agents should be avoided.
The FS-T01-S is directly compatible with the Xintex G-2B-R as well as the P-2BS-R/P2BS. It is not interchangeable with older MS-2 and MS-2 HEAD sensors for systems such as the S-2A, M-1, and M-2A. Therefore, check the detector system model and the sensor manufacturer number before replacement.
Gas and gasoline fume sensors in marine installations are recommended to be replaced every 3–4 years. The sensor is not intended for field repair. An installed sensor in a gasoline detector system can be functional tested with gas from an unlit butane lighter; never use a gasoline-soaked rag, an open container of gasoline, or an open flame for the test.
