Xintex gasoline fume detector system G-2B-R is a permanently installed, 2-channel alarm system for monitoring gasoline fumes and vapors from unburned hydrocarbons in marine installations. The system comes with two separate sensors, allowing two risk areas such as the bilge, engine room, or areas around fuel tanks to be monitored.
The alarm is activated at 20% of the Lower Explosive Limit (LEL). A red LED indicates an alarm state, while the built-in alarm horn emits approximately 68 dBA. Each channel has a green power indicator, a yellow fault indicator, and a red alarm indicator. The yellow LED can, among other things, warn of a cable break or a disconnected sensor.
The front panel's Check/Reset and Silence/Test button are used for self-testing, alarm acknowledgment, and temporary muting of the alarm horn. If the alarm state persists, the horn will reactivate after approximately 30 seconds. The system operates at 9–30 V DC, has a nominal power consumption of 95 mA at 12 V DC, and is protected against reverse polarity. The installation requires a 1.0 A inline fuse on the positive wire.
The black, square panel measures 67 × 67 mm and is mounted in a round hole with a diameter of Ø 2⅛″, approximately 54 mm. The panel is passed through the mounting hole and secured from behind with the included threaded nut. The location at the instrument panel must ensure both visual and audible signals are clear to the operator.
The two sensors are connected via the included sensor cables, each 6 m long. The sensors are placed in relevant risk areas just above the normal fluid level in the bilge and must not be mounted near the manifold or exhaust system. The cables have connectors and must not be shortened. The sensors are mounted with suitable #8 fasteners and a rubber gasket between the sensor and the mounting surface.
The scope of delivery consists of the G2BS-N01-D display module, two FS-T01-S sensors, two FS-X01 extension cables of 6 m each, and manual no. 18140. The sensors should be replaced every 3–4 years and the system should be tested regularly. Extra 6 m cable is available as item no. 29.787.11, while item no. 29.787.12 is a documented spare sensor.
The system is a supplementary warning system and does not remove a potential leak. In case of an alarm, the area must be ventilated, potential sources of leaks checked, and normal safety procedures for explosive vapors followed. An alarm state has not ceased as long as the red LED continues to light.
